Yaletown
OPUS Hotel Vancouver
Vancouver, British Columbia, V6B 5Z6, Canada

Metrosexual to the max—starting with the model-hot doormen—the Opus packs in guests who want to sample the city’s trendiest neighborhood. With just seven floors, the hotel can’t match the views of nearby condo towers—but its cool glass-and-steel architecture and creative room categories truly epitomize Yaletown. The 96 guest rooms are grouped by “room personality,” based on fictional characters—gay doctor Mike, fashion exec Susan, rock star Billy, food critic Pierre, and film actress Dede. All have clean minimalist furnishings in bold color schemes—lipstick red, acid green—and spacious bathrooms with walk-in showers, Frette robes, and L’Occitane toiletries. Room types are assigned randomly unless guests make a specific request. The hotel’s Web site has a feature to help guests determine their personality type, and if a guest lets the hotel know which “type” they are, the staff will kick in with specific local dining and other recommendations. The concept is as fresh as the rooms, and the beautiful staffers are very approachable.
Room to Book:
Rooms in the Superior category (except those ending in 14) feature bathroom vanities against the window, allowing Yaletown to watch you do your hair (don’t worry, there are blinds too).Insider Tip:
The hotel's mountain bikes and Jorg & Oliff city bikes are popular—reserve with the concierge the night before.
