Part Georgian town house, part groovy seventies crash pad, it's a secluded yet popular 20-room boutique B&B just off St. Stephen's Green. An ivy-clad door at the end of an alley opens onto a mirrored reception desk and sunken lounge. There is something very bachelor pad about the property, especially when Noel Comer, the charismatic owner, is on hand to offer an effusive welcome. The hotel consists of two converted coach houses and a listing Georgian terrace, now renovated. The coach houses, meanwhile, still wear their original 1950's redo. Each room is individually decorated with a mix of antique and modern furniture, complemented by muted walls. Room 21, with lofty ceilings and original 18th-century cornices, may be one of Dublin's grandest places to sleep. Our one gripe: the rooms are hardly soundproof. If you're in the terrace house, expect to hear the comings and goings of your neighbors. The breakfast, prepared by Comer himself, makes up for it. Organic mushroom omelette?Coming right up. Fresh pot of French-press coffee? On your table before you think to ask.
