Melville Suites

During the late 19th century, Mazatlán was a playground for well-traveled artists and aristocrats. Today their Neoclassical mansions are being transformed into stylish cafés, galleries, and hotels. The most vibrant reinvention is Melville Suites, an inn that occupies a former nunnery in the town’s historic center. Monastic austerity has been replaced by a profusion of lively details in the 20 suites: steamer-trunk tables, billowy curtains, and hand-carved armoires. On the walls, colorful works by area artists prove that the seaside town still inspires.
