Luna2

22 Jalan Sarinande
Seminyak, Bali
TEL: 62-361-730-402

A design junkie’s dream, this ultrasleek five-bedroom private property (which guests rent in its entirety) feels more South Beach than Seminyak. Designer and owner Melanie Hall calls the interiors “funked-up modern,” and the label fits: both the indoor fully stocked bar and the outdoor pool are inset with Bisazza mosaics (the latter features a larger-than-life tiled portrait of Marilyn Monroe); one of the bedrooms sports a 1950’s Brionvega television set (with satellite TV); the six bathrooms all have Dornbracht fixtures and PhilippeStarck cube-shaped wall-hung toilets. The chic design and the 23 round-the-clock staffers (including superb Chef Danny Drinkwater, formerly of the Park Hyatt in Sydney), make Luna2 the perfect party pad—but if you have little ones in tow, never fear: the house has a separate entertainment area for kids, including a 51” TV and an amply filled playroom with computer games, DVD’s, and toys.

Tip: Ask one of the staff bartenders to whip you up some “Lunatinas”—cocktails made with sweet vermouth, Champagne, fresh lemon, and a splash of vodka.

Room to book: Though the entire property must be booked at once (at $3,000-$4,000 per night), make a beeline for the second-floor “Green Room” before your fellow guests nab it: it has a rooftop terrace with a reflecting pool and a bird’s-eye view of the waves.
