La Purificadora
Paseo de San Francisco
Puebla, Mexico
TEL: 52-222-309-1920
The latest masterpiece from Iconic Mexican architect Ricardo Legorreta: La Purificadora, a thrilling 26-room shot of big-city flair in small-town Puebla. The hotel’s name refers to the water-purification plant that once stood on the site; the original 1884 signage is preserved above the entryway. The dramatic three-story, open-air lobby soars over the surrounding colonial-era buildings. Inside, bold purple furnishings stand out in striking contrast against whitewashed walls and gunmetal-gray custom floor tiles. The black-and-white–tiled guest rooms feature glass closets in which clothing seems to float, and glass balconies on which vista-gazing guests seem to levitate. In the ground-floor restaurant, acclaimed Mexico City chef Enrique Olvera creates slicked-up versions of regional standbys like mole-rubbed beef and Mexico’s famous pork dish, cochinita pibil.
