From the hotel group behind celebrity favorite Cap Juluca comes Kú, which means “sacred place” in the Arawak Indian language. The name is appropriate, given that the hotel sits on the white-sand beach of Shoal Bay East near Fountain Cave, one of the tribe’s ceremonial sites. The urbane newcomer provides luxury for less, with South Beach–chic suites—white and pale-aqua walls, white-tiled floors, blond furnishings and fabrics. The suites are as airy as they are minimalist, with living/dining rooms, full kitchens, and ocean-view balconies. Kú’s spa and pool may be on the small side, but its 75-foot beachfront bar is the longest on the island. At the adjoining French-Caribbean restaurant, live music sets a laid-back vibe for barefoot dancing on the beach.
