Koh Samui Four Seasons
COST: $$$$$
The Four Seasons’s first Thai beach resort marks a turning point for Koh Samui. Secluded on the island’s northwest corner, the hotel is sheltered from the clamor of nearby beaches. Landscape designer–turned-architect Bill Bensley, who also created the Four Seasons Tented Camp in Chiang Rai, is responsible for both the resort’s elegant look and the sublime water views from all public spaces. The 60 villas are propped on stilts, with infinity pools, teak floors, and rosewood furniture; they’re the most expensive on the island, but worth it for the views alone.
