While this 1927 Neo-Gothic building still maintains many of its historic features, it also has a modern cantilevered rooftop pool, a Charlie Palmer restaurant, and a $20 million–plus art collection, including works by Andy Warhol and Richard Phillips. Its 128 rooms and suites are equipped with custom-made furniture that’s sleek without being austere. The Joule is also about to emerge from a $78 million renovation by starchitect Adam D. Tihanythat will add 32 rooms and suites, an 8,000-square-foot ESPA spa, and a craft cocktail lounge in an old bank vault that once housed the Dallas National Bank’s reserves.
