Connected by a private boardwalk to sandy, three-mile-long Crescent Beach, this five-acre resort reopened in June 2008 after a multimillion-dollar eco-renovation. The revamped property now has environmentally friendly features like recycled rubber floors, all-organic bath and cleaning products, an indoor-outdoor air exchange system, and a solar-panel-heated swimming pool; public spaces, including a clubby lobby lounge, wraparound deck, and the light-filled, Maine-meets-Mediterranean Glass restaurant, were also renovated. All 67 stylish rooms and suites (many with kitchens) have contemporary Maine art, comfy furniture, and bold crimson- and chocolate-colored fabrics; some have fireplaces. While accommodations in the main building are spacious, the even roomier garden and Loft Cottages and Beach Suites are great for families, groups, and pet owners. The resort’s state-of-the-art organic spa (the hotel used a LEED consultant) is a rare find, with a eucalyptus steam room, sauna, and menu including regionally inspired treatments like the hot Casco Bay stone massage.
Room to Book:
Ocean-facing Beach Suites have full-service kitchens, palatial baths with walk-in showers and soaking tubs, fireplaces, and wonderful outdoor seating areas. They can also be booked in multi-bedroom configurations.
