Freeport + Mid-Coast
Hotel Pemaquid
Housed in a converted 19th-century farmhouse, this Victorian-style hotel is only a two-minute walk from the pine-shaded beach and iconic lighthouse of Pemaquid Point. Past the wraparound porch furnished with rocking chairs, the lobby parlor is filled with antique furniture surrounding a large stone fireplace. There's also a library, a collection of old radios and phonographs, and an enclosed sun porch where coffee is served each morning. Room options range from bungalows with private decks to spacious suites and a carriage house with a kitchen, deck, and balconies. The hotel is only open seasonally, from Memorial Day through mid-October.
Room to Book:
Noise from overhead rooms is often an issue here, so light sleepers should request a room on the top floor.
Insider Tip:
Just down the road, the Sea Gull Shop restaurant is known for its blueberry pancakes and will provide all the dishware necessary for a picnic on Pemaquid Point.
