Romance and a room on the bustling Rue de Rivoli may seem an unlikely coupling, but this hotel feels like you’ve stepped into the living quarters of a wealthy but eccentric aunt. Teal and pink are the predominant colors in the cozy common area, accented by a hodgepodge of portraits, landscapes, and odd sculptures; chintz and flea-market finds give the hotel’s 23 small bedrooms a quaint, kitschy appeal. It’s all no-frills, but the hotel is friendly and family-run, the rooms are clean and surprisingly quiet (double-pane windows block out the noise on the busy street), and it all comes with the sense of infinite possibility you get from stepping into the center of Paris first thing in the morning.
