Hotel Madeline Telluride (formerly Capella Telluride)

This chic new property in the heart of Telluride’s Mountain Village upped the luxury factor when it opened in 2009. Though its 100 rooms and suites—set just steps from the Number 4 ski lift and the gondola into town—were built with local stone and timber, they’re hardly rustic; each has a giant marble bath with separate soaking tub and shower, plush beds swaddled in Pratesi linens, and furnishings in burnished wood and tobacco-colored leather. Of the many amenities here—including an on-site skating rink, a spa and indoor pool, and the swanky Onyx restaurant—perhaps the most remarkable is the staff’s attention to service.
