Omonia

Baby Grand Hotel

3-5 Kolokotroni St.
Athens, Greece
TEL: 30-210-374-3590

The best views are of the 76 rooms themselves at this witty and whimsical graffiti-artist-decorated boutique hotel. Athens-based artist Dreyk the Pirate painted second-floor suites with mermaids and flying sheep; other rooms feature Smurfs, jungle animals, and on the sixth floor, Klimtesque gold trees and flowers. The more staid seventh and eighth floors are not graffitied because, a bellboy said, “businessmen don’t want Spiderman in their room.” But it’s impossible to be all business in a place where the mini-bars include sex toys as well as sodas. At the ground-floor grill/restaurant (Meat Me)—a white-on-white tropical forest of hanging “vines”—the lavish breakfast includes products from the owner’s Crete farm. Outside the hotel, turn right toward the riotous Central Market, Monastiraki, and Psyrri; heading left leads you to dodgy Omonia.

Room to Book: 501 if you’re a jungle aficionado; 403 if you’re a Spidey fan (it also has a balcony).

Insider Tip:

Book treatments at the teeny, sleek bathhouse of a spa well in advance—the whole place has just one esthetician.
