Sunny Isles is North Miami’s rapidly developing answer to South Beach, and Rosewood Hotels & Resorts has stepped into the skyscraping fray with Acqualina, a grand 51-story Mediterranean-inspired tower that mixes touches of Collins Avenue grooviness with old-world nostalgia. Baroque fountains and marble-and–gold leaf columns in the public areas evoke an opulent Venetian palace. In the 97 rooms and suites, all is white-and-earth-toned simplicity, with hipster accents, such as refrigerators stocked with Red Bull and welcome trays of hors d’oeuvres served on banana leaves.
