Months after announcing their first hotel in Punta Cana, Nickelodeon and Karisma Hotels & Resorts exclusively revealed to Travel + Leisure that they are set to open a themed property in Riviera Maya, Mexico by the end of next year.
“We have been thrilled with the overwhelming response to Nickelodeon Hotels & Resorts’ combination of luxury and playfulness,” Gerald Raines, Senior Vice President, Global Recreation for Viacom International Media Networks, said in a statement.
Groundbreaking took place last week on the oceanfront property, with guests like Dora the Explorer, SpongeBob SquarePants, and Leonardo from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in attendance. Those kid-friendly faces will also be on site once the resort opens. Just head to Character Central, where youngsters can meet their favorite animated personalities.
The property will also feature Studio Nick, a theater for immersive entertainment experiences, plus a kid’s spa, surprise slimings, and Just Kiddin’, a hangout for kids.
When it comes to accommodations, the resort’s focus is obviously on the family. It is expected to boast 288 swim-up and infinity suites, each with its own pool on a private terrace or balcony. While details of particular rooms and suites have yet to be released, the Punta Cana property recently revealed the Pineapple Villa based on SpongeBob’s house from the show.
And who can forget about food? There will be six all-inclusive dining options, including two oceanfront eateries, four bars and lounges, and a one-of-a-kind food truck experience that will present a half-dozen culinary options to be enjoyed while seated or as a part of an outdoor picnic.
Nickelodeon Hotels & Resorts Riviera Maya will begin accepting reservations in early 2017 for stays starting in December 2017.
