There’s nothing quite as spectacular as a good Fourth of July fireworks display and one new timelapse video proves that the people of Los Angeles are the real experts in this patriotic ritual.

On Wednesday, Photographer Kevin Greene shared a stunning timelapse video he created using photographs of illegal fireworks displays set off around the city of angels on July 4.

In the Instagram caption Greene said that while the display is “technically illegal,” it doesn’t stop much of the city from “getting down.”

Greene explained that he created the nearly unreal timelapse by blending short video and an hour-long timelapse made up of 800 photos from a Rokinon 50mm and Canon 6D camera.

“The foreground is Culver City. Culver City Police Department is super strict about fireworks. Those houses are relatively expensive and in Los Angeles the best street fireworks tend to be in the hood,” he added in a comment.

To get the series of shots, Boing Boing explained, Greene traveled to Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook seven miles out of town, which gave him just enough of a panoramic view to take it all in.

And this isn’t Greene’s first attempt at photographing fireworks. As his Instagram account proves he’s an expert in capturing the perfect moment, like this one taken during the fireworks display at Dodger’s stadium.

Or this timelapse video from the stadium in 2015.
