We asked our Instagram community to share their December vacations using #TLHolidayTravel, and the results were stunning. Here are our favorites.
Holiday travel can be one of the most emotional times of the year, and not just because you're visiting much-missed loved ones after what was likely a very long workweek. Getting from point A to B sounds easy enough, but when you toss in thousands of people trying to do the same thing at once, never-ending airport security checkpoints, and weather delays, the jolly holiday season can seem, well, a lot less jolly.
This year, we asked our beloved Instagram community to share snapshots of their holiday travels. We expected to see sarcastically captioned shots of airplanes stuck on runways, those tedious TSA lines, and a few scenic destination photos tossed in. Spoiler alert: We got the exact opposite.
The many submissions will mindblowing. Not only was there not a negative post in sight, but the photos we did receive served as an incredible tour around the world during one of the year's most magical times.
After scrolling through all of them, we pulled together some of our favorites. Images of the expected snow-covered Christmas markets and holiday trees made the cut, but so did some unexpected locales (like Machu Picchu and Antelope Canyon). In fact, some of the least expected submissions left the biggest impression, reminding us all that a warm-weather vacation may just be the thing you're looking to try next year.
Go on, explore some of the holiday sights from around the world. And remember: There's no rulebook saying your hometown is the only spot you can explore come December (although we're all for re-discovered beloved places, as well). And an incredibly warm thank you to all who participated; you continue to amaze us—and inspire our own getaways—with your world travels.
Here's to a new year full of impromptu vacations and unforgettable experiences.
