“This is my invariable advice to people: Learn how to cook–try new recipes, learn from your mistakes, be fearless, and above all have fun!” –Julia Child

This Monday, August 15th, marks what would be Julia Child‘s 104th birthday. And there are plenty of rabbit holes I could go down to attempt explaining the degree of impact this woman and her massive portfolio of personal and professional achievements has had, and continues to have, on American popular culture, the food world at large, my mentors, my idols, and myself. But I think the best that we at MyRecipes can say to honor this giant of a woman (I mean this in terms of heart and literal inches) is simply that she inspires us to feed people–her spunky spirit of living, cooking, eating, and sharing with unadulterated curiosity and joy is exactly what we aim to bring to the table each and every day.
That said, the best that we can do to honor Child’s life is fully embrace our deep, deep level of food nerdiness, gather up with all of our closest friends, and obviously, throw a party. On Monday, August 15th, the following Time Inc. Lifestyle brands will host a 4-hour “Cooking with Julia” extravaganza in real time on Facebook Live. And we would like to invite every Julia fan out there to partake in the festivities by tuning in and using the hashtag #HowWeJulia on Facebook and Instagram.
Our party agenda entails 9 of your favorite food and lifestyle brands hosting back-to-back Julia-centric activities–from preparing the perfect Salade Niçoise to discussing the best Airbnb options in Paris. The celebration kicks off on at 11:30 AM (EST) on both Food & Wine‘s and TIME‘s respective Facebook pages and continues as follows:
