Winter is coming to Washington, D.C. this summer.
In anticipation of the seventh season of “Game of Thrones,” Ommegang Brewery and Drink Company (a D.C.-based bar company) will host a series-themed pop-up.
An iron throne will anchor the 3,000-square-foot space while guests drink signature cocktails like “What is Dead May Never Die” and “The Lannisters Send Their Regards.” Ommegang’s “Bend the Knee” (the official beer of “Game of Thrones”) will also be on tap.
Swords, dragons and skulls will adorn the space while the series’ soundtrack pipes through. Visitors will be able to move through the bar and experience different rooms that reflect different parts of the show’s world.
Daenarys’ dragons will be brought to life with a mural and guests will be able to pledge their allegiance to a house banner in the Armory. There will also be a Hall of Faces, made with plaster molds of Drink Company employees and their families and friends.
The “Game of Thrones” bar will open on June 20 and stay in D.C. until August 27. It will be open every day, except for Sunday nights when the show airs (so the staff has a chance to watch it, too).
The space is no stranger to pop culture pop-ups. A few months ago, Mockingbird Hill hosted a Super Mario-themed bar, complete with animatronic piranha plants and green pipes.
And if past events are any indication of popularity, those who want to visit the “Game of Thrones” bar should plan to arrive early. People lined up for over two hours to get into the Mario-themed bar.
