It will make you want to plan a trip to Fiji.
Disney just released a trailer for "Moana," an animated film that follows the adventures of Disney’s first Polynesian princess and a demigod named Maui. Traditional Disney tropes (like epic romance) are notably eschewed in favor of action. Moana, voiced by Auil’i Cravalho, from Oahu, is a dauntless heroine who sets out to save her people’s culture.
Vivid colors and sweeping panoramas of Oceania blend 2D and 3D animation. Viewers will be transported to the islands of Fiji, Samoa, Tahiti, Mo’orea, Bora Bora, and Tetearoa. If that’s not enough to convince you that "Moana" is worth putting on your must-watch list this fall, consider this: Lin-Manuel Miranda (of "Hamilton" fame) was heavily involved with the film's music and lyrics.
Moana is in theaters on November 24—just in time for the Thanksgiving holiday.
