We’re just days away from the release of Stranger Things Season 2 on Netflix, and fans are racked with anticipation. Over a year after the premiere of the first season, binge-watchers are ready to step back into the world of Hawkins, Indiana, check up on their favorite characters, and maybe even revisit the Upside Down.

While we can’t share much about what’s coming in season 2, we can whet your appetite for all things '80s with a conversation we had with one of your favorite characters. Gaten Matarazzo, 15, who plays Dustin Henderson on the show, chatted with us this summer about all things travel, family, and Stranger Things.

We're live at Holiday Inn Manhattan - Financial District, with Stranger Things star Gaten Matarazzo. Ask your questions below!

Favorite Places to Travel

The press tour surrounding season 1 of Stranger Things took Matarazzo and the rest of the cast around the world and back. He cites Paris, London, and Los Angeles as some of his favorite cities, and as destinations he would definitely go back to.

He also talks about a vacation favorite that's a little closer to home, saying, “I like to go to Wildwood Boardwalk in Jersey because it’s not too far from where I live. I get to go with my entire family, my grandparents, my cousins. We would all go together for a week every summer and it was a lot of fun.”

He also urges travelers to double check their hotel rooms on their journeys, saying members of the tour group were constantly leaving chargers and phones in their rooms and making the travel process a lot more difficult.

Ties to Family

When asked if there's anything he always brings with him on his travels to remind him of home, Matarazzo (adorably) responds that he likes to bring his mom (and sometimes his dad).

When it comes to family vacations, Matarazzo says the most important piece is just that: “Family. Being together. You don’t need expensive things or going on super big adventures, you just need to make sure that you have time to spend with your family without worrying about work or school or anything and just be with them.”

Dream Vacation

If given the choice to travel anywhere in the world with any celebrity companion, Matarazzo keeps his request simple, instead planning the ultimate cast getaway with the Stranger Things kids.

“That’s a hard one!" he says. "[I would] probably [go to] Cedar Point in Ohio because I love roller coasters so much. And I would probably bring one of the kids from the show. Does that count? Caleb [McLaughlin] because he gets crazy on roller coasters. He has this high-pitched shriek, and he always says it wasn’t him, but it was him. Finn [Wolfard] because he also loves roller coasters, Millie [Bobbie Brown] because she also freaks out and Noah [Schnapp] because...he also freaks out. Any one of them would just be a riot to go to an amusement park with.”

Season 2 of Stranger Things premieres on Netflix on Friday, October 27.
