Why Go on an Adventure with Kammok

We enjoy discovering great new travel brands, companies, and products—especially ones that incorporate great design and do good.

There are so many reasons to like Kammok. Initially crowd-funded, the innovative outdoor brand launched in 2010 with the “Roo,” a smart closable bedding solution to help people in malaria-stricken countries. The lightweight flexible hammock easily attaches to two trees, works in tight spaces (like camp cabins and orphanages), and is even being used in yoga studios and on city terraces. Not surprisingly, word about the high-tech, comfortable hammock spread.

Today, the Austin-based company is going full tilt with other complementary products. With the purchase of every Roo ($99),  Dragonfly (ultra-light insect net; $75) or Glider (nifty tensile hammock “cover”; $230), Kammok, through its partnership with Malaria No More, makes life-saving treatments available to five children diagnosed with malaria in Africa.

Kammock’s founder and visionary Greg McEvilly—also a TEDx Alumni and a 1% For The Planet Ambassador—is the driving force behind the company. And his enthusiasm for philanthropy is contagious. We’re excited to see where Greg us next, and what new products he develops—for adventurers, and for the planet.
