Anyone who knows me can attest to my having a healthy and, er, perfectly natural fascination with celeb culture, so I was more than happy to take on the role as the go-to person for celebrity coverage on TravelandLeisure.com.
As a part of that beat, I’d like to introduce a new series: Star Mapper. I’ll let you know where the A-Listers go (and hey, I’m not too proud to go after some D-Listers too. *ahem* Kathy Griffin *cough*), along with a little info about their fave haunts and destinations.
9/12: Sean Penn was seen arriving at the newly opened Abe & Arthur’s, an industrial-contemporary spot in the Meatpacking District, with SI model girlfriend Jessica White. The occasion? Fellow model Noemie Lenoir’s birthday celebration. Expect casual American food—and a $20 burger that I’m told is worth every penny.
9/17: Madonna was seen heading into Schoenfeld Theatre, a 1917 NYC landmark just outside of Times Square, where Hugh Jackman and Daniel Craig’s new Broadway show, A Steady Rain is playing.
9/17: Taylor Swift, recovered from her embarrassing MTV VMAs debacle, made an appearance at the über-kitschy dessert palace Serendipity 3—made famous by the 2001 film—with friend Emma Stone. Skip dinner, and head straight here for a sugar fix.
9/20: Paul McCartney brought girlfriend Nancy Shevell to the see-and-be-seen Bemelmans Bar at The Carlyle on the Upper East Side. If that wasn’t enough, Broadway star Haydn Gwynne was also at the bar that night. Famous for its food-friendly cocktails, try the Bemelmans Barter, a mix of cognac, Caraçao, pineapple, Angostura Bitters and nutmeg.
9/21: Mischa Barton was spotted getting a dose of culture at the Metropolitan Opera, with designer Zac Posen—who just so happened to have designed the dress she wore—at her side. The show that night? Giacomo Puccini’s Tosca. Looking to get a piece of the action, but not going to be in NYC anytime soon? Check out the free live audio stream.
Have you seen any celebs while out and about? I’d love to hear about it! E-mail me at TLFeedback@aexp.com. (Be sure to include “Celeb-Spotting” in the subject!)
