NYC Restaurant Hosts Ultra-Luxurious Culinary Ski Trips to French Alps
Sometimes we all need a little more luxury in our life. Maybe even a lot more luxury. That’s what Donna Lennard, owner of New York’s il Buco restaurant group, must have had in mind when she announced her latest culinary endeavor—a food, wine, and ski adventure at private chalets in the heart of France's Alpine resort town Courchevel. This ultra-extravagant vacation is also ultra-expensive (sticker shock: $50,000-$150,000 per chalet per week).
Why so pricey?
For starters, it's in a great location. Courchevel is part of the famed Les Trois Vallées region, which is the world's largest connected ski area and offers hundreds of miles of ski runs that connect three Alpine valleys.
Secondly, guests won't be left to fend for themselves on the slopes. Luca Bonaciolli, Lennard’s husband and world-class ski instructor, will lead them around the ski runs.
Then there's the food. Also along for the trip will be one of the chefs from Lennard’s two restaurants, il Buco and il Buco Alimentari & Vineria. That means breakfast, lunch, and dinner cooked by an expert chef who'll cater entirely to the guests' preferences. We're talking foie gras, caviar and truffles. Classes will be available for those guests who want to learn how to make a ballontine of rabbit at home, too.
And with the food comes the wine—one of Lennard's wine directors will be on hand to pair the chocolate soufflé with just the right wine.
And beyond the private sommelier, chef, and ski instructor, there are the accommodations: Groups of 8-12 guests will spend their week in posh chalets, some of which feature private swimming pools.

Fear not, the weeklong vacations are highly personalized. Want a helicopter ride to Chamonix? You've got it.
Of course, it's not all about the money for guests on il Buco’s Culinary Ski Adventure. When they wake up each morning to views of the Bellecôte glacier from their private terraces, I'm guessing they won't be worrying about the week's price tag.
