True or false: booking a hotel and airfare package is cheaper than booking each component separately. If you guessed true, you’re right—most of the time, anyway. But there are exceptions. Helping you navigate those murky waters is Kayak, which has just launched a tool to aggregate package pricing and help you find the best options.
How it works: Kayak’s newly reimagined Package Search pulls results from seven of the most popular OTAs, and also searches its network of 1 million-plus hotel and airline sites for individual prices that can offer even steeper savings. Search for, say, a week-long getaway to Copenhagen, and you’ll see a list of hotels with competing package prices from each provider—the price variation is fascinating, and proves just how relevant this tool is. But perhaps most notably, you’ll also find a so-called KPACK price, which combines the best deal when airfare and hotel are booked separately.
With the increasing popularity of bundled bookings, KPACK meets a growing need that wasn't yet being addressed. Not only does it prove that Kayak can keep reinventing itself to stay relevant in an increasingly competitive market, but it also provides the kind of transparency users need to pull the trigger, making it indespensable for both businesses and consumers alike.
