Follow a woman’s incredible 1,700 mile, solo journey through the Australian outback in the upcoming film, Tracks.

In 1977, Robyn Davidson made a 1,700-mile trek across the deserts of Western Australian with her dog and four camels. Davidson had no intention of documenting her adventures until she eventually agreed to write about her trip in National Geographic magazine.

The article attracted so much interest that Davidson decided to write a novel about her experience. The film will be based on Davidson’s writings.

Mia Wasikowska (The Kids Are Alright) plays Davidson and Adam Driver (Girls) plays Rick Smolan, the National Geographic photographer who documents her journey and falls in love with her.

The official U.S. release date is today, May 23.
