We’re already deep into National Burger Month, with specials like $1 burgers on Wednesdays at New York’s Goodburger, free premium toppings on Mondays across the country at The Counter chain, and a new burger daily at the Four Seasons in Boston or Iron Hill Brewery restaurants in Pennsylvania and Delaware, where the Jalapeño Popper burger caps things off on May 31.
But don’t feel you’ve missed out if May’s burger mania is news to you. The most widespread offers are still to come. On Burger Day itself, May 27, Groupon will roll out deals in all its 175 North American markets, bookable through Sunday at midnight. Here are a few to get your mouth watering and kick off your summer.
At Duke’s Bar and Grill, a cozy, wood-paneled hangout in Chicago’s Lincoln Park, a $12 Groupon voucher covers $25. The staff gets creative with decadent burgers like the Mac Attack (topped by mac and cheese) and the Truffle, with grilled onions, parmesan, and black truffle paste. You can build your own starting from nine kinds of patties, including turkey, veggie, and bison.
BGR The Burger Joint, a gourmet chain that prides itself on dry-aged, grain-fed beef, has burgers served on brioche buns with seeds for $4 in Washington, D.C. and Greenville, S.C.—a $7 value.
Even celebrity favorites have teamed up with Groupon. The oldest burger joint in South Beach, Cheeseburger Baby keeps stars like Miami Heat player Dwayne Wade and Beyonce coming back for more homemade chili cheese fries, beer-battered onion rings, and bacon cheeseburgers. The Angus beef is cooked in an open kitchen, so you know just what you’re eating and, thanks to Groupon, $5 buys $10 worth of food and drinks.
“I have tourists tell me they get off the plane and this is the first place they come to,” owner Stephanie Vitori told me. It’s often also the last place after a night out; Cheeseburger Baby stays up until 5 or 6 a.m. regularly and 8 a.m. on crazy-busy holidays like Memorial Day.
