It’s pop-up galore these days, but this one caught our eye: From Apr. 4–17, British Airways will host FlightBA2012 in Shoreditch. The event is a culmination of last year’s airline-sponsored search to find three “Great Britons,” rising stars from different creative fields. Their mentors? Celeb chef Heston Blumenthal, YBA Tracey Emin, and actor/writer/director Richard E. Grant.
The pop-up restaurant—shaped like an airplane cabin, of course—will feature the cuisine of Simon Hulstone (a Blumenthal protege who's developed a huge following for his creations at his Michelin-starred The Elephant brasserie in Torquay); showcase the work of emerging artist Pascal Anton (guided by Emin); and screen a new film by Prasanna Purwanarajah (who was mentored by Grant)—all creations with have an “Olympics” theme. The three-course dinner with champagne (and tarmac view?) is 50 pounds.
