Southerners flock to the stadiums in the fall to watch our favorite football teams vanquish their rivals (well, most of the time!). College stadiums, however, are much, much smaller than the billions – yes, billions – spent on professional stadiums. But, that doesn't mean we take tailgating any less seriously on Sunday afternoons at Nissan Stadium in Nashville or on Monday nights at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans.
Although most of these larger stadiums house our favorite NFL teams, some of the stadiums also include sports with major legacies and cult followings, like the New York Yankees. You may even spot a professional soccer team in the mix. Our friends at Coinage took a look at the country's most expensive stadiums, totalling how much they each cost to build. Can you guess which two Southern stadiums made the list? Hint: You know what they say – everything's bigger in Texas.
