From India to Indiana, yogis around the world are preparing to celebrate the first ever International Yoga Day on Sunday, June 21st—the summer solstice. The holiday will be recognized in 175 countries as thousands gather at events across the globe to celebrate the ancient practice.

The day was declared in December of 2014 after India Prime Minister Narendraq Modi, first proposed it during his address to the UN General Assembly in September.

There he claimed, "Yoga is an invaluable gift of India's ancient tradition. It embodies unity of mind and body; thought and action; restraint and fulfillment; harmony between man and nature; a holistic approach to health and well-being. It is not about exercise but to discover the sense of oneness with yourself, the world and the nature."

In honor of global yoga, we took to Instagram to highlight some of the most beautiful destinations to find your center. Namaste.
