World's Most Mysterious Buildings

National Library, Kolkata, India
Visitors long whispered about the 250-year-old National Library’s haunted halls, then, in 2010, a bona fide mystery came up after the discovery of a hidden room with no windows, doors, or entrance of any kind. No one had entered the room in more than two centuries, but authorities at the National Library requested permission—standard for a historic building—to drill through the wall. After six months of research, authorities were able to crack archaeologists’ speculation. It seems the room was not a torture chamber, treasure chest, or a sealed tomb, but a mud-filled block used by the original builders to support the buildings' foundation.
