Taos to Santa Fe: 70 miles/90 minutes. Highway 68 southwest to Espanola; it becomes Highway 84/285 to Santa Fe.

Day 2 or 3
Santa Fe to Winslow: 320 miles/five hours. I-40.

Day 3 or 4
Winslow to Grand Canyon: 150 miles/ three hours. I-40 west to Flagstaff; Highway 180 north to Highway 64 north.
