Guide to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport

Food and Drink Known for its super-fresh fish tacos and seared Alaskan rockfish, Anthony's Restaurant is ideal for a sit-down dinner. True coffee connoisseurs bypass Starbucks and Tully's and instead order the chocolate-truffle mocha at Dilettante Chocolates & Mocha Café or a Torrefazione coffee at Kathy Casey's Dish D'Lish, where you can also pick up a Brie-and-chicken sandwich and lemonade (served in a spillproof cup). Sit by the fireplace and sample local microbrews at the just-opened Seattle Tap Room.

Shopping Looking for a souvenir? At Fireworks you'll find regional artwork and crafts, ranging from handmade jewelry to blown-glass vases. Made in Washington sells alder-wood–smoked salmon (in a vacuum-packed pouch). Kids Works has an array of educational toys, travel games, and stuffed animals.

While You Wait The airport recently went wireless, but those who need privacy (and a printer) should head to Laptop Lane ($44 per hour). Rent a portable DVD player and a movie ($12) at InMotion Pictures. Watch airplanes come and go from one of the four mahogany rocking chairs in front of the Central Terminal's 350-foot-long windows. If you need a catnap, gates A1 and A2 tend to be preternaturally quiet, with a handful of padded benches. Robert Rauschenberg's four-panel silk screen Star Quarters and Frank Stella's colorful abstract painting York Factory A are among the highlights of Sea-Tac's extensive art collection. Also check out the rotating exhibition of Northwestern glass art near the South Security Checkpoint. There are five "talking" water fountains scattered throughout the airport; press a button and you'll hear sounds such as a babbling brook or a rainstorm. Start at the one in Concourse B and hunt for the remaining four (hint: look for the amplifier underneath).
