T+L Reports: Travelers' Yarns

A growing army of "knit wits" are taking vacations that combine stitching with sightseeing, shopping, and massages. Get your needles ready. NORWAY Join Interweave Press on its June Knitting in Scandinavia trip (800/272-2193; www.interweave.com/events), which includes a private showing of the Bergen Museum's knitting collection. MINNESOTA Arnhild Hillesland's September Knitting Camp (515/232-7661; www.ludlowsresort.com; $650, all-inclusive) in Lake Vermilion pairs a Norwegian knitting workshop with not-so-rustic R&R—there's an on-call masseuse and shopping aplenty. CALIFORNIA At the Yarn House's three-day Wool Lover's Retreat (262/786-5660; www.mankas.com; doubles from $185; workshop $500), held in March at Manka's Inverness Lodge in Point Reyes, knitters learn felting techniques while getting in touch with nature in the surrounding 80,000-acre national park. ALASKA Set sail in August with Vogue Knitting magazine editors on the Voyage of the Glaciers Knitting Cruise (800/677-9412; www.vogueknitting.com) through the Inside Passage. Board the Island Princess in Vancouver; guest designers lead classes on the ship. Don't bother packing a sweater—you can make one there.
