Travel insurance company World Nomads and Lonely Planet are teaming up to offer a career-boosting scholarship to three aspiring travel writers. On offer: the money for a 10-day tour of the U.S. The itinerary is completely up to the writers, and the only requirement is that the travelers write 20 stories.
The winners will also get a three-day writing crash course led by Lonely Planet author John Vlahides in San Francisco and a $3,000 stipend for any food, transport, activities and accommodations for their journeys.
The lucky three will act as their own photographers, capturing, as World Nomads puts it, “the nooks and crannies” of the country.
This scholarship is intended for aspiring travel writers only, so those who write professionally will not be considered (sorry freelancers). Applicants must also be available from August 11 until August 24 for the writing course in San Francisco and the trip across the U.S.—these days are set in stone. The application? Right this way.
