Of all the new-fangled travel apps out there, the recently launched Porter & Sail seems particularly stylish. Modelling itself after a hotel concierge, the app has partnered up with a succinct list of hotels around the world to provide a menu of recommendations tailored to suit its guests.

Armed with self-produced content that brings in the expertise of both locals and well-travelled tastemakers, Porter & Sail offers a mix of memorable eating, drinking, cultural and shopping spots, whether its on the exclusive or hole-in-the-wall ends of the spectrum. Words and photography are all created in-house and managed from its New York base to ensure an element of quality control.

Access to the app is currently granted exclusively to guests who stay at Porter & Sail’s partner hotels. Right now that's 10 properties, including The Freehand in Miami, London’s Town Hall Hotel, Tommie in New York and The Patina, Capitol in Singapore. Thanks to its location capabilities, the app is able to provide guests with insider tips, neighborhood background, and favorite spots as they go along their way. The app’s feed notifies its users with prompts whenever one of its recommendations passes by.
