“The Nightingale and Other Short Fables” Four Seasons Centrefor the Performing Arts (October 17–November 5). Fairy tale and puppetry, East andWest: the Canadian Opera Company’s world premiere places short works by Igor Stravinsky inthe hands of the creative, genre-busting director Robert Lepage, who teamed up with the puppeteerMichael Curry to present a show inspired by traditions of Japan and Vietnam incorporating waterpuppets and Bunraku, in addition to shadow puppets and live singers. If you miss it, the showcontinues on to the Aix-en-Provence festival next summer.
