Toronto Premiers Stravinsky’s Works

“The Nightingale and Other Short Fables” Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts (October 17–November 5). Fairy tale and puppetry, East and West: the Canadian Opera Company’s world premiere places short works by Igor Stravinsky in the hands of the creative, genre-busting director Robert Lepage, who teamed up with the puppeteer Michael Curry to present a show inspired by traditions of Japan and Vietnam incorporating water puppets and Bunraku, in addition to shadow puppets and live singers. If you miss it, the show continues on to the Aix-en-Provence festival next summer.
