Flying at 35,000 Feet Didn’t Seem So High Anymore
When stuntman Felix Baumgartner jumped from 120,000 feet in the sky—24 miles—as a promotional stunt for Red Bull, he broke the sound barrier and generated millions of YouTube views along the way. No doubt, plenty of skydiving tour operators rejoiced over the potential new customers, but Baumgartner’s dive also puts anyone’s fear of flying inside a cramped space into perspective. While Baumgartner clearly doesn’t have issues with heights, he did admit to battling claustrophobia related to his custom-made, pressurized space suit.
