The Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art pays tribute to avant-garde British fashion from 1976 through the present day with "AngloMania" (May 3Sept. 4; www.metmuseum.org). Bold designs, including John Galliano's 1998 black silk Dior gown and an orchid hat from Philip Treacy's 2000 collection, are posed in English period rooms, where Sir Joshua Reynolds's and Thomas Gainsborough's iconic paintings hang in high style.
