They've scored 18 Academy Awards and $3.2 billion in box office receipts. Clearly, the masterminds at Pixar Animation Studios (Toy Story, Finding Nemo) have charmed industry bigwigs and movie goers alike with their spirited characters and hyperrealistic scenes. Curators can be a tougher audience, but this month Pixar gets a critical nod when the Museum of Modern Art in New York unveils "Pixar: 20 Years of Animation" (Dec. 14Feb. 6; www.moma.org), the largest show MOMA has ever devoted to the cartoon-inspired art form. Screenings of the house's six features and 10 shorts, moving-image segments, paintings, and concept pieces will help to illuminate the creative process at work. —BRIDGET MORIARITY
