Change is afoot at the InterContinental London Park Lane (One Hamilton Place, Park Lane; 44-20/7409-3131; www.intercontinental.com; doubles from $505). The hotel’s famously swank site—between Hyde Park and Green Park, with regal views of Buckingham Palace—is now matched by its interiors. The property has just emerged from a $113 million makeover with 150 damask- and linen-swathed rooms and Neoclassical suites; the remaining 297 will open by March, along with a 2,025-square-foot Elemis spa. There’s a knockout lobby by fledgling London design firm J2, and chef Theo Randall dishes up Cornish crab and sea-kale salad with Amalfi lemon at his namesake Italian restaurant—adding some new flavor to London’s tastiest location.

InterContinental, London Park Lane

Change has come to the InterContinental London Park Lane. The hotel’s famously posh location— between Hyde and Green parks, with regal views of Buckingham Palace—is now matched by its interiors. The property recently emerged from a $118 million makeover, with rooms swathed in damask and linen. In one loftlike suite, floor-to-ceiling windows frame a panorama that includes the queen’s residence and Wellington Arch. The hot new London design firm J2 added dramatic touches to the knockout lobby, such as cascading chandeliers that drip like icicles.
