While the strip of hotels along upper Collins Avenue has become a design hub, South Beach's shopping scene has remained mostly stuck in an era of sequined thongs and half-price flip-flops. That's set to change with the opening of the 3,000-square-foot concept store Arrive (100 16th St.; 305/604-5818; www.arrivemiami.com). The brainchild of local club king Max Pierre (Opium, Privé) and Dao-Yi Chow, a former creative director at Sean John, the sleek, all-white unisex shop resembles a bachelor pad from the 1970's, filled with an eclectic range of beauty products, fashion finds, and housewares. Look for vintage Gucci and YSL sunglasses, potions by Malin + Goetz, and cutting-edge gadgets from Sony and Nokia. There's also a revolving range of seasonal exclusives—such as spring's Gabriel Urist gold necklaces shaped like ninja death stars, slouchy camouflage shorts by Triko, and jeans from cult denim brand Red Monkey.
