T+L Reports: Hotel Yasmin

Like this article?

Design junkies traveling to Prague take note: Even if you don't stay at the outrageous Hotel Yasmin (12/913 Politickych Veznu; 420-2/3410-0100; www.hotel-yasmin.cz; doubles from $260), stop in for a peek. The 198-room property, housed in a former bank near Wenceslas Square, gleefully thumbs its nose at the city's baroque leanings. Silver orbs dangle from the ceiling, sculptures covered in red faux fur stand like sentinels in public spaces, and black-tiled bathrooms are outfitted with Philippe Starck fixtures—this is definitely not the Prague of the backpacker eighties and nineties. If your taste veers more toward the traditional, don't worry: both Mandarin Oriental and Rocco Forte will be debuting Prague outposts by 2007.
