This month, the Collection Lambert, a private museum within Avignon's historic Hôtel de Caumont, will host "The Paradox of the Actor" (July 8Oct. 1; www.collectionlambert.com). Four hundred works spanning four centuries—including Kabuki portraits and celebrity snapshots—trace the role of the performer, on screen and off.
