That would have to be the Waterside Inn, in Bray, England. It's a beautiful restaurant near London on the bank of the Thames; ducks, geese, and swans swim peacefully just steps from the terrace. The food is absolutely wonderful, befitting its three Michelin stars.

We liked Le Bistrot de Lyon at 64 Rue Mercière in Lyons. It has comfortable outdoor seating and a charming interior. Besides the extensive menu there are great daily specials, but a dinner for two with wine and dessert will cost you only about $50. The staff is very friendly, and many of the waiters speak English.

On a recent trip to the Côte d'Azur, we discovered La Terrasse à Mougins, where we enjoyed two outstanding dining experiences. The view overlooking Cannes, the understated yet elegant Provençal atmosphere, the impeccable service, and, most of all, chef Christophe Ferré's extraordinary capabilities inspired us to commend La Terrasse to Michelin. (Personally, we'd rank the restaurant a "one-star.") Don't miss it.

In Limassol, Cyprus, there's a little place called Pambo's. The owner knows four words in English: "I have great food." The delicious Cypriot meal, meze, consists of 20 courses that take four to five hours to enjoy.
It's hard to pick just one restaurant, but the most gorgeous setting I've ever dined in was the summer outdoor grill restaurant at the Marbella Club Hotel in Málaga, Spain. I love it for the gargantuan candelabra and amazing gardens.
Great Falls, Va.
My find is the restaurant in the Kinpoch Hotel near Oban, Scotland. The food was beautifully presented and beyond delicious. The dessert was decorated in such a manner that we couldn't tell which was the garnish and which was the design on the plate. We were given our own dining room with a glowing fireplace, and the staff was very gracious.
