London's Metropolitan Hotel now has a super-sophisticated Asian twin in the heart of Bangkok. An attractive staff in urban black welcomes guests into the Zen lobby, which is lined in acres of Thai makha wood and flooded with light from the second-floor glass façade. As any health-conscious oasis should, the hotel has outfitted each guest room with custom meditation chairs and yoga mats. Those for whom the lotus is not a preferred position can slip into the private Met Bar, where mixologists serve martinis from a formidable drinks menu.
