Four Japanese national landmarks, including Kodai Temple and Nijo Castle, openpreviously restricted areas to the public for the first time during "Kyoto Art Walk: Protected Space and Contemporary Art" (Oct. 21Nov. 3; www.kyotoartwalk.org). Ten international artists created site-inspired installations just for the occasion.
