Trousseau to Go

First comes love, then comes marriage, then comes baby in the baby carriage? The recently opened Wedding Things (1039 Third Ave., New York; 212/ 308-4680; www.weddingthings.com) is banking on that traditional chain of events. The Vancouver-based retailer's first U.S. location sells everything for the big day—and then some. Eager brides can track the moments till they say "I do" with a marriage-countdown clock ($30) and print up invitations on Vera Wang stationery (starting at $800 for 100 cards). As W-day draws closer, there are all sorts of gifts: hand-painted silk fans ($3) and rhinestone-encrusted compact mirrors ($40) for the bridesmaids. It's probably best to keep the soon-to-be mother-in-law away from the chocolate thong ($15). Stash it for after the wedding—and if the honeymoon is particularly productive, a once blushing, now blossoming bride can come back to shop for stretch-mark cream ($32 for four ounces), as well as luxuriously soft velour and satin receiving blankets ($40 each).
