Serpentine lines and souvenirs weren't really a part of museum going until the 1970's, when the art world's first blockbuster, an exhibition of the treasures of Tutankhamen, toured the country. Tut, the sequel, debuts June 16 at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (323/857-6000; www.lacma.org; through November 15), and will travel to Fort Lauderdale, Chicago, and Philadelphia. Objects from the pharaoh's tomb, including his gold diadem and a repository for his mummified organs, are displayed alongside artifacts from the graves of other 18th Dynasty royalty. Profits will go toward a new art museum in Cairo—ensuring the show a prosperous afterlife.
