Pilgrimage to the Panhandle

For the first time in my life, I watched that tournament and did not wish that I was there. The flowers were okay. But there was no way Augusta could match these shrimp.

Tip From The Pro - The Punch Shot

Often on our courses, you will find yourself off the fairway among a row of three-hundred-year-old oak. Usually, there is no way to hit over them, so the smart golfer will punch out sideways to the fairway. If you have an opening to the green, you should punch under the trees and roll the ball to the green. In either case, execute the following:

Select a less lofted iron, such as a two or three. Move the ball back in your stance and open your feet a bit. Move your hands slightly forward at address. Place your weight forward and keep it forward throughout the swing. Use an 'arm swing'--where you feel as though you're trapping or 'blocking' the ball at impact. Don't get 'handsy' through the hitting area--that will add unneeded loft to the club. Executed correctly, the punch shot will ensure a low, straight trajectory that creates overspin. Allow for lots of roll.
